Family Visa

Suppose you are a foreign national residing in the UAE on a resident visa. In that case, you can bring your family with you via a UAE family visa. Nevertheless, only some are permitted to bring their dependents; you must satisfy specific standards to obtain a family visa in the UAE. Under one condition, UAE legislation allows expatriate residents to sponsor family members. The sponsorship is only permitted if the expatriate possesses a lawful residence permit.

Based on a minimal income requirement, male expatriate residents in the UAE can sponsor their close family members, such as their spouses and children. To qualify, the resident must earn a minimum of AED 4,000, or AED 3,000, including housing facility.

Before March 2019, only specific categories of expatriate employees could sponsor family members. Based on the latest updates, the legislation UAE allows all workers, regardless of their job classification, to apply for a family visa. The new amendment allows an expatriate employee to bring close family members to the UAE and commence the resident visa application process. The sole need to fulfil is the precise minimum income requirement. Please check the GDRFA’s website for further information on the subject.

A woman may sponsor her children if the child’s father is unable or ineligible. If the father is available, resides in the Emirates, and fulfils the “sponsor requirement”, the mother’s ability to give sponsorship is restricted.

The application period for a resident visa is sixty days. After the dependent arrives in the UAE, the sponsor must complete the necessary paperwork within the timeframe specified. The visa period provided to the sponsor’s family members may vary. Many criteria about the sponsor are considered while calculating the visa period. These determinants include the sort of occupation, the employment contract, and the capacity of the sponsor. Considering these variables, resident visas for foreign workers are often provided for one or two years. Nonetheless, foreign employers are granted a three-year visa for permanent residency.

There are age limitations for family members of the sponsor about the period of the resident visa. Typically, the visa period of the sponsor applies to the sponsored family members. Parents and adult males pursuing an education are exempt from the exact requirements. The visa awarded to parents and adult males seeking education is valid for one year. The term of the sponsor’s visa is irrelevant in this instance.

Any of the rules mentioned above and regulations may be revised or altered. If you seek a family visa in Dubai, you must satisfy the abovementioned sponsorship requirements. With the local GDRFA office in the Emirates, you may also apply for a family visa in UAE.
