The Golden Visa is a long-term resident visa that allows international talent to dwell, work, and study in the UAE for up to ten years. This golden residence program is renewable and exclusive to select groups, including investors and persons with remarkable abilities.

The Golden Visa program is intended to attract foreign investment and expertise to the UAE. It offers several benefits to its holders, such as the ability to live and work in the country, access to high-quality education and healthcare, and the ability to sponsor family members for residence visas. The Golden Visa is valid for ten years and can be renewed.

Golden Visa UAE Perks and Advantages

The following are some of the advantages of the Golden Visa in the UAE:

An entry visa for six months with multiple entries followed by the issuance of residency permits, a long-term, renewable residence visa valid for ten years, a self-sponsored visa, the ability to stay outside of the UAE for any length of time without having their visa invalidated sponsoring their family members, including spouses and children, regardless of age sponsoring their parents for a 10-year residency without having to pay additional deposits
They are sponsoring an unlimited number of domestic servants, allowing family members to remain in the UAE until the expiration of their permit if the principal Golden Visa holder dies.

According to the authorities, international residents of Dubai who possess a golden visa and a valid driver’s license from their home country are now eligible to sit a UAE driver’s exam without any further training.

In addition, golden visa holders immediately qualify for a UAE driver’s license if they possess a license from one of 32 authorised countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Italy, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, New Zealand, Qatar, Kuwait, or Ireland.

Prince Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has announced that excellent expatriate students and their families will be awarded a 10-year residence Golden Visa in Dubai. In addition, they will receive discounts on higher education at foreign university branches in Dubai.

Golden Visa UAE Requirements

The Golden visa requirements vary based on the kind of residency, such as an investor, talent, or entrepreneur.

Public shareholders:

If you invest in an investment fund, you may be eligible for a 10-year Golden Visa without a sponsor if you meet the following requirements:

  • Submission of a letter from a UAE-accredited investment fund saying that the investor has a deposit of AED 2,000,000 or submission of a valid commercial or industrial license and a memorandum of association showing that the investor’s capital is at least AED 2,000,000.
  • Provide a document from the Federal Tax Authority saying that the investor pays the government at least AED 250,000 (two hundred and fifty thousand) each year.

 

In addition, you must:

Possess the invested funds; it cannot be a loan; and produce proof of family medical insurance coverage (if any).

Real estate investors:

Suppose you own a property or a group of properties. In that case, you may be eligible for a 5-year Golden visa, renewed under the same terms and without a sponsor, if you meet the following requirements:

  • Purchase of a property with a loan from specified local banks authorized by the competent local organisation.


Entrepreneurs:

Suppose you are an entrepreneur with a technological or futuristic economic initiative centered on risk and innovation. In that case, you may qualify for a Golden visa. Also, you must get a letter of consent from each of the following:

  • A statement from an auditor in the UAE confirming the project’s worth is at least 500,000 dirhams.
  • Authorities in the emirate said that the proposal is technological or futuristic, a certified business incubator in the UAE to develop the planned activity in the nation.


Physicians and scientists:

  • A Letter of Approval from the Ministry of Health and Prevention in the UAE to Practice Medicine (for doctors)
  • A recommendation letter from the Emirates Council of Sciences or a letter from the Mohammed bin Rashid Medal for Scientific Excellence Secretariat confirming that the candidate received the Medal of Scientific Excellence (for scientists).


People with originality in the domains of culture and art:

  • A letter of clearance from the relevant emirate’s culture and art department.

 

Managing Directors:

  • A copy of a Ministry of Education-accredited university degree demonstrating educational attainment of at least a bachelor’s degree.
  • A letter demonstrating at least five years of experience in the same position, a wage certificate indicating a salary of AED 50,000, and a valid employment contract are required.

 

Athletes:

  • A letter of recommendation from the General Sports Authority or one of the sports councils


Engineers and scientists:

  • A job contract with a copy of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree issued by the Ministry of Education.


Excellent High school students:

  • You may be granted a Golden visa without a sponsor if you are a national-level top high school student (with a minimum grade of 95% in public or private secondary school). You submit a recommendation letter from the Ministry of Education (Emirates Schools Establishment).


Students in college:

If you are an exceptional university student, you may be eligible for a 10-year Golden visa without a sponsor if you meet the following requirements:

  • A recommendation letter from the institution, an approved graduation certificate, or an accredited academic record indicating that the student’s cumulative GPA is at least 3.50 for A-class universities and 3.80 for B-class universities must be presented.
  • It has not been more than two years since you received your diploma.

Excellent overseas university students may be given a 10-year Golden visa without a sponsor if they meet the following requirements:

  • According to the grading system authorized by the Ministry of Education, the university ranks among the top 100 universities in the world.
  • The total GPA of the student is at least 3.50.
  • It has been less than two years since you received your diploma.
  • The Ministry of Education accredits the graduation diploma

 

Pioneers of humanitarian work:

You may be eligible for a 10-year Golden visa if you are a humanitarian work pioneer. You must fall under one of the following categories to qualify as a humanitarian work pioneer:

  • Members and outstanding employees have worked for international and regional organisations for at least five years.
  • Members and exceptional employees who have worked for civil associations and institutions of public interest for at least five years, individuals who have received an appreciation award from a local, regional or international organization that focuses on humanitarian work.
  • Provided that the value of the assistance does not fall below two million UAE dirhams or its equivalent, donors may support humanitarian efforts.


Frontline heroes:

With a nomination from a competent authority, the Golden visa is also available to frontline heroes who exhibited great effort in disasters like the COVID-19 epidemic. Frontline heroes include nurses, medical assistants, lab technicians, pharmacologists, and other cadres certified by the Frontline Heroes Office.
